Proper Brushing
Use a toothbrush with soft, nylon, round-ended bristles that will not scratch the teeth or damage gums. Place bristles along the gumline at a 45-degree angle. Bristles should contact both the tooth surface and the gumline.
Gently brush the outer tooth surfaces of the front teeth using back and forth, rolling motions. A rolling motion is when the brush makes contact with the gumline and is moved downward toward the chewing surface. Use the same technique to brush along all of the inner tooth surfaces of the front teeth.
Repeat the same movement on the cheek sides and the tongue sides of the back teeth. Make sure to brush every tooth. Next, brush the biting surfaces of the teeth with a back and forth scrubbing motion.
Finally, brush the tongue from back to front to remove odor-producing bacteria.
